Vacuum Pump

I'm thinking I have a dead vacuum pump, but don't have the experience to know.

Attitude Indicator has tumbled and the Directional Gyro is not moving.

What do I need to look for to verify?

Yeah, it’s toast. Order a new one and have your mechanic put it on for you. Easy fix and it easy to get to on top (rear on a 235) of your engine.

Thanks,

I figured it was the pump, just thought I would ask to see if it could be something else.

Thread Change

Now that we've determined my pump is toast, it makes it easier to go with the AV 30-C EFIS.
For VFR only and I always use an iPad with Foreflight, is there any reason that I need a GPS Navigator tied to the second AV30 set as a DG?

Depends on what you want to display on the second AV-30. If you are going to use it as a HSI, then it needs course information from a GPS. If you are only going to use it as a DG, then no GPS connection is needed.

Andy,

All I want it for is the DG and to get rid of the vacuum system.

FWIW I had the same indication. No vacuume at the guage but instuments seemed okay. Looked under the dash and my craft still had the soft clear vacuum hoses. The one to the gauge had a crimp in it that sucked closed when the pump was running.

Tim,

That's the kind of information I was looking for.
I will search for a crimp. 8)

Thanks

I’m interested in an AV-30 setup like that too, but with the TailbeaconX that will give me ads-b and be my new transponder to replace the aging on I have.
