Pitot tube bounces all over?

Post by CRAZEDpilot »

My Pitot tube bounces up and down in flight, deflecting the tip probably 1/4" up and down in vibration.

This happen to everyone else?

How do we fix this? according to some AoA guys like uAvonix, this will degatively affect the accuracy of their product.

Thanks,
-Brendan

Might pilot tube can be flexed some by hand on the ground but it does not bounce around in flight. Would think a doubler installed on the wing skin where the tube mounts should stiffen it up. Or possibly there is something loose/cracked with the current mounting. Let us know what you find out.

It's mounted next to an inspection plate, out in some open skin area...... so there's just alot of this loose metal there.... it's not mounted
near a rib or anything.

If anyone else has solved this problem, please share photos too!

There should be a stiffener/doubler plate, with folded edges, on the top side of the bottom skin, where the pitot mounts. You might check for it’s presence/condition.
