is EGT "Required Equipment" for the M5?

Post by CRAZEDpilot »

Want to verify with those smarter than me:

I have this ancient non-functioning EGT probe. IS THAT REQUIRED EQUIPMENT? i don't see it listed on the REL for lycoming.

CAN I REMOVE IT? (planning a EDM-830 upgrade instead).

I would contend that it SHOULD be removable, unless I'm missing something.

The EGT gauge is:
* not listed on the Maule "Required Equipment List"
* is listed on the Maule "Optional Equipment List"
* not shown in the AFM, and no limitations listed
* not listed on FAA Type Certificate
* not required by FAR 91.205
* not needed for any kind of required leaning procedures in the Lycoming Operating Manual (which is advisory only, anyway)

CHT is a different story, of course.

What am I missing?
