Somebody tell me why...

The M4-180V’s were built with no cargo door and no room for cargo. Seems like a waste of a perfectly good airplane.

Maybe that’s why there was an M-5? Somebody saw a need.

The new M-4s do.

The M4 180V was produced long after the M5 - I don't know the exact years but it was like 2004-2008 or something like that.

They were targeting the trainer market and were only supposed to be two seaters. Outfitting for payload was also of no concern and a place where they could cut corners in production costs to bring the price point down.

I read somewhere or heard from someone that they didn’t have the correct paperwork to build a new M4 like the old birds we fly. Not in anyway sure if that’s true, but that’s what I recall.

Ah. My ignorance is showing. Silly me for assuming a sequential numbering system :)

Haha they have a new M4 in an S2/S4 that would be a fun airplane. Wish they would have stuck an IO-360 on it though. If I had $200k to spend that would be a cool airplane.

Oh, I called and got Ragtunde this morning (at least I'm pretty sure anyway) and asked if they made an extended baggage for it and they don't. She did try to sell me a new one though!

Did anyone ever end up making a belly pod?

I heard that they were trying to build a LSA but couldn't get the weight down enough. That's why they skipped the baggage door, which seems odd to me since there's this nice big baggage area behind the front seats but it's tough to get stuff in and out of it.
