Pre-purchase inspection considerations

Trigear? Taildragger? Fixed pitch prop? Which Engine? ...anything related with model selection considerations and questions about buying a Maule

the exhaust is a problem as most mechanics do not know how a maule is to be set up. They tighten the clamps too much and then the mufflers crack.

Thanks plowboy,indeed the exhaust fixture has a 1/2 inch cut next to the screw that needs welding, the sleeves for the heater though are intact.
