M6-235 purchase advice

Hello all.
New member, living in South Africa. Fly for a living on a corporate jet and want to be more active in GA. I own a Bushbaby (think South African Kitfox) and it will soon be ready to fly after a refurb at the manufacturer. The plan is that this aircraft will give me a good platform to learn tailwheel flying but the long term goal is to end up with a 4 seat taildragger. I already have plans and some aluminum for a 4 place Bearhawk...
BUT...
I know of a 1983 M6-235 that is for sale through an EAA member. I have flown with him a few times in his Maule and enjoyed it each time. http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/showpho ... kt&cat=576
Here are the details of his plane for sale:
1983
Airframe 4135 TT
Engine 1635 SMOH engine had titan pistons and cylinders installed at 3767hrs
Prop 99 SMOH
CSU 99 SMOH
Fuel Injection 99 SMOH
Fuel Pump 99 SMOH
Magnetos 99 SMOH
X-ray for corrosion in September 2013
Equipment installed:
Garmin 340 Audio
nav/com 1 x King 750
ADF
KT76A txp
autopilot
garmin 296
EDM 700
From the bit I know, on paper this doesn't look bad at all. The only thing troubling me is the hours remaining to OH of the engine - about 365 or so. Our rand is depreciating quite badly at the moment here in South Africa compared to the US Dollar so the OH is not going to be cheap - probably around $22500. How does this compare to the USA? Having said that, he is asking the equivalent of $41300 which from what I have seen online seems very reasonable.
I would really appreciate any advice or feedback from you guys. I have seen there is LOADS of experience and knowledge on this forum.
Thanks in advance,
Jayson
