I would also suggest you go to Maule website, pull up the MM's on aircraft you're thinking of installing wings from and suspect you'll find very little difference between the short winged maules and the piper.... I believe the dimensions are at beginning of the manual? The M4 or M5, neither has an exceptionally long flap, nor wing for that matter!! The M4 rudder is almost of duplicate of pacer....

Also would suggest spending some time on Short Wing Piper website, as a lot of what you've mentioned has been tried. Over the years there have been several reiterizations of pacer, some work well, others not so well, but think you'd find them to be valuable resource. As I mentioned before, the ultimate pacer has a stretched fuselage, supercub wings, cub empennage, and is a heck of an airplane. If you're looking to put long maule wings on instead of cub for added fuel, you really need the longer wing with longer flaps which would be the universal or M6 wing. Both of these will require redesigning the pacer flap engagement system with some welding. If while on Maule site, you look at mod installing longer wings on M5, that will pretty much cover what will be required of the pacer as pacer / M4 / M5 all have very similar flap actuation systems... Good luck!

Jeremy,

What are the flap/aileron lengths for the M4/M5/M6? I remember seeing them somewhere but I cannot recall where....

You guys have been a tremendous help. I really think that I can make the Maule wing work since my Pacer is classified as an amateur built. The Maule might be a heavier wing but it has a lot of benefits over the Pacer wing in my mind. I do like the idea of keeping it a short wing but have the possible increased fuel capacity and larger flaps along with the ailerons moved out to the tips. I believe cub crafters sells a carbon fiber tip that "might" fit on a non certified Maule wing....

M4 220 just went on sale for salvage up here. Wings look OK. Google Alaskalist and search Maule.
You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!
