Fiberform Floats.. Trash or Run if their Free?

Post by akholland »

I think we've talked about this before, but I found another set of fiberform 2400's. If I can get it for a cheap price it has the porkchop I need.

Am I dumping money into a pit or would it be worth spending 1000 bucks and just running these ancient dinosaurs?

I've seen several sets of aqua 2400's or other real floats on here for between 7 and 10k....

I have the rubber oleo mod and the water rudder mod.

I have a similar question about some Fiberglass Fleet floats. Repair or paperweight? Is the rigging worth anything?
You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!

Thanks. I kind of figured that would be the answer. My IA declined to take them for free to rebuild and sell. I just wanted a second opinion! Is the rigging worth anything? Is it interchangeable?

x2 on the rigging question. just bought the set on Alaska list for cheap. I got there and they were full of ice that expanded and cracked out the sides. I bought it for the rigging.

I have another set of experimental fiberglass 2850's called Superfloats out of florida that we bought about 15 years ago and never used. Hoping to cut up the rigging from the fiberforms and maybe try these too! The Fiberform 2400's weigh about 140lb each before they soak up water in the foam. What does a Aqua 2400 weigh?

The Aqua 2400's are near 350Lbs with rigging.
