I was over there for 4 months last fall working. Looks like I may be over that way again for a month or so this year. If so I would love to get together and see some of Bayern from the air. And I would be happy to return the favor if you get over to the US.

Where are you located south of Munich?

A gathering of European Maules would be fun. I know of a few in France and Switzerland and we could probably chase a gaggle of them out of the UK.

Let’s make suggestions for when and where.

Scotland (and Scandinavia?) are probably the only places where we can land on fields, beaches etc. without legal hassle. South east France has dozens of interesting airstrips - and better food and weather. :D

Sounds like a great idea Jacko.

Agree about SE France. Never been to Scandinavia, so that destination is interesting. Scotland is always beautiful!

Southern Germany? Konstanz EDTZ, Kempten Durach EDMK. 4+ small grass strips nearby, all within 40mins flying. Weather less predictable than France?

Late spring, early summer?

On Saturday 21 September there’s a gathering at Montmeilleur airfield (LFKK) in the French alps:
https://www.montmeilleur.com/index.html
https://www.montmeilleur.com/airfield.html

It is organised by the French association of mountain pilots (AFPM), but all are welcome and it would be nice to see more than the usual one or two Maules there.

It’s worth a visit just for the scenery. Picnic in the castle garden is usually followed by a guided tour of the castle, which the present owner has renovated and made more or less habitable.

If the weather looks reasonable I plan to go. PM or email me for details if interested...

New kid on the block..well, sort of...

Hi
not actually a kid anymore.
Just bought a MX 7 235. Will be located south of Stuttgart, once the registration process is finally done.
I learned a lot on this forum already and looking forward to participate.

Congratulations, and welcome to the forum!

I may fly to Nurnberg for a couple of days in March (by Maule or Airbus, depending on weather), and Stuttgart looks kind of on the way home...

Thank you for the welcome.
If you want to come visit in my area in march, just let me know. Will be happy to have you here.
If Pretty Mauled (Torsten) is still located in EDSB we could even organize a mini gathering. EDTZ and EDTE, where I am flying from are only a 25min leg away.
I'd love to learn from you about Maule Flying.

Regards

A Maule gathering by the shore of Lake Constance / Bodensee sounds nice - if we can also arrange good weather...
If not after the IWA show in Nurnberg, maybe later in the year?

Wow just a few posts and we almost have a gathering going..how’s that for a head start
Thanks for the heads up Chris_01
However, beginning of March the weather will be an issue in Konstanz. Lots of fog during this time of the year.
Whatever happens, shoot me a note when you will be in Nürnberg.
Let’s see if I have my Maule flying by then. Bought it with French registration and currently upgrading avionics and N registration are ongoing...
:?
If you come by airbus and weather is VFR I can fly to Nürnberg and take you for a ride.

Hi All and a warm welcome to Zoller,
Konstanz is great, ATC are super helpful and the approaches stunning. No restaurant but you can order in from a local one and have a picnic. Best in clear weather so you can admire the views.
Zoller where are you based, we might be passing Stuttgart mid February. .
