norcal64d,

Here is the accompanying video of inside the cockpit during the Pecos River landing.
Looks like 5-10 mph headwind from airspeed to GPS reading.

The location of the airport in relation to Iraan requires a constant vigil of landing conditions, wind gusts from the hills around town, thermals and pot holes over town, power lines everywhere, friends and family on the ground.
I learned to fly here in a 1946 Cessna 140, graduated to a 1958 Cessna 182, and then a 1948 Cessna 170, before acquiring the Maule M7-235. The only way to feel comfortable with the performance of your plane is to practice over and over. I purchased the Maule from Jeremy Ainsworth (Maules.org) and he stressed that I learn to land in every configuration, all flap settings varying weight loads, crosswind, downwind, and I took him to heart.
I feel confident in this plane, but still I learn something on almost every time I'm airborne. One of the best things I relearn is how much I love to fly and how much I need to expres this joy. I do not post to show off, or for approval, only to show how much fun it is.

What do they say? "A pilot's license is only a license to learn", or something like that.

Nice video!
I actually think I could plop the M5 down on your Cul de sac' if I had to!

PS:The most difficult landings made in any aircraft (and most rewarding) are performed under duress, unfavorable conditions and exhaustion. Having had plenty of those in the F16 at night in Iraq or 737 in nasty weather and snow on small runways it's all relative. For me the M5 is a joy, all challenges are by choice.

RC airplane  that’s cheating. Spinning that low over all those houses had me wondering

You need to go in about 15:30 to see the backyard landing

It's been awhile since I had the cameras on the plane, but I got some video this weekend. We had a ton of rain, well for us, so I was getting some video of all the water running down the river. These are of my first landing at some friend's River Camp on the Rio Grande.
The wind was gusting and rolling over the hills, so my aim point was a little long to make sure I din't Wiley Coyote into the bluff. :)
