Cabin fun and spring ski flying

Post by YELLOWMAULE »

This year has been a precedent setting year for Mrs YM and I. We've managed to spend the last five successive weekends out at the cabin. We've had many visitors either day stops and overnighters. Including several from here. Of course, this weekend was all "work"... and no one showed. Not to worry, it was incredible weather. +45 in the sun, severe clear and calm. Managed to get a lot of chores done and brought home some long overdue items for the dump. Also caught four Burbout and cut three separate bear tracks

Oh, did I mention why I own a Maule?

Here's a little better look at the head count

And that is one of the many reasons to own a Maule. I've hauled more freight in this thing than my truck has. Lawn mowers, appliances, tools, firewood, snow machines. It'll eat it all.
Hopefully, I'll get another week or two on skis before my lake here at home starts to rot. The cabin lake breaks up about the end of May to the first week of June.
Ooooh, hear that? Sounds like Salmon coming home! Won't be long now!

Curt-

Looks like Ms YM packs light about like my wife!!! Been beautiful up here as well, just hope we don't get the cold snap in April like we did last year. The ice up here is going quick with all this sun beating down on us!!! See ya at the show?

Jim: Absolutely! I always look forward to our infrequent visits. One of these days, you and your lovely wife will meet us in Valdez and I can buy you guys a libation.
TiB: Yes, I am a lucky man. Not particularly smart, handsome or genteel but damn lucky. I have the good fortune to have some amazing individuals as friends, see and do things that most people consider off the charts and have a wonderful wife. I have also lived in your country for about a year and loved it. I was based in Sydney and worked all over delivering private yachts as a young man. I'd met a number of your country's Shelia's. Wonderful representitives all.
By the way, all are welcome on my doorstep. We have a tie down and a bunk for all travelers. Might even find a little grub and grog too.

Where's Mrs YM? Is she still hiding out in her beautiful new Audi?

Thank you for the invite YM. Hard not to have a good time in Oz. Sheilas, Marys, different names all over the world, all have their own regional charm. Thank 'eavens for ...... be careful that could be taken the wrong way in this day and age.
Ozy, Orchard Rd...Caporns or Taylor boatbuilding? Just a 10 minute walk...ok, 15 minutes. Taylor was in Sydenham I think? We probably know a few people in common. :)

Haha! Not that trip Butch. Managed one last trip for the ski season on Saturday. to deliver some goods and an outboard. Even had Wup with me this time! Got to show him what ski flying was all about. Last trip until after break up I'm afraid, it's been a fun last few weeks but the snow is very punchy and going quickly. Woke Sunday morning to find that the ice has begun rotting on the home lake. It was a mass exodus of planes yesterday. I think that there's only one left on the lake. Good to be on wheels again though! 8)
