Good morning,

We recently bought an M-7-235 and got her back in the air last week. The oil temp moves up to about 225-230 and stays there. All other performance & data seems right on point. What do y'all typically run in your -540s?

Thanks much.

Nevermind, guys.

I posted my question before searching oil temp issues. Plenty of info out there on the IO540-W1A5D oil temp issues. I'm hoping it is the gauges, but will start eliminating other possibilities while I save for an EI or JPI unit for the long haul.

Thanks much!

You say back in the air. Has the bird been sitting a while or returned to service after engine overhaul?

GB,
The airplane had been owned by the UN since new (1990) and was operated in Madagascar with occasional flights to the African Continent. I bought it & rehung the wings, etc. Overall in excellent condition. Impressively so, including the recover & new interior a few (5) years ago.

Just thinking that if it had been sitting a while might have a little rust on the cylinders. Take a good look at your oil.

Yep. Thanks. Been thru all that. Cylinders were fogged when it was broken down, and only sat for a few months without being run. REALLY well maintained while it was there. Very happy with it so far.
