Hello everyone, I'm a happy new owner of a m5. It's in eatonville wa. I'm looking for a few suggestions, for grass or gravel strips, so I can get tail wheel current. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Hello allen,

No bringing it home to Anchorage. I'd like to get 10 or 15 hours on my m5-220c. So I'm looking for some short trips, and grass or gravel you get current.

Hi Dave.

Unfortunately all the state grass/dirt strips are closed for the winter and most of the grass ones can be soggy.

There are a number of private strips down your way. Look them up on Airnav and give the owner a call. Many of the folks are very open to having people land but don't get insulted if they say no or ask about your experience.

One year round public strip is the 11/29 at Arlington KAWO. It is a little weird since most people no matter the wind direction want to land on the big, wide, long 16/34, but if you stay at pattern altitude and start a standard base into 29 you will be well above the 34 traffic on final.

Concrete (Mears 3W5) has a grass strip on the North Side of 25...I would not land on the grass as runway 7 since there is a problematic go around and a windsock to navigate. Trees on approach really focus your attention.
