Idaho Backcountry fly in camping

Post by Mountain Doctor »

I want to go camping soon for a few nights.

Last year I met up with many of you at Johnson Creek and loved it. Which is better for camping, Johnson Creek or Big Creek?

I just want to get away for a bit, and cool off in a mountain stream.

I prefer Big Creek, because it's more primitive. Others may prefer Johnson Creek because it's not.

Camping

Big Creek has a pit toilet and potable water with a nice little campground in the trees, but that is about it.

There is a small stream that runs by the campground but to get to Big Creek is a long hike.

Here is the calendar of events w/ the Breakfasts listed:

J. Creek you know. Some improvements over the last year.

Big bonus you can get to the creek (river) easily and get wet while hanging out during the heat of the day.

We were there last week and it was great.

I think I'll stick to J. Creek. I know it, I like it, and I know how to get there. I really like the creek, and the van ride to 'town'. I also know how to get in and out of there safely.
