Buddy and I flew to Gulkana and grabbed some fuel. We flew on to Chitna and down the Copper River to Cordova for lunch. Then it was back to Anchorage via Whittier/Portage. Great day and beautiful weather. Fun... even if it was in a 172! My M-4 is still broke!

Columbia River Elk Herd

Post by M5guy »

Down the Columiba for nice eve flight to Cascade Locks. Coming back set up for low approach over beach I land at across from Beacon Rock in middle of Columba. Much to my suprise herd of 20+ elk on beach landing area on the island in midde of the Columbia. Big bull, small bulls, many cows. Never seen then there before. Must have swam over to the island from the WA side. Interesting.

As usual, Rob sets the bar high. Wish he'd work once in a while like the rest of us....!
This last week has been busy. 9 hours so far. flew in our hunting camp, for an opportunity at Bullwinkle and flying the camp back out. Staged a truck in Cantwell with all the gear and fuel and made ferry trips to a spot an hour away and 3k'. Broke down camp, grabbed the "street" clothes out of the truck, changed on the side of the runway (wave at the tourists in the train) and flew to Fairbanks for a week of delightful training.
Hey fairbanks guys! Drop me a line, I'm in town for the week. Maybe more looking at the weather...
