Not many strips. The Bayano river had not been dammed up yet when I rode horses through there to Columbia.
Strips further in were Chepo, either Ipeti or Torti (in construction), at Santa Fe ranch, Las Palmas, El real, maybe Yaviza or Pinogana, and then Sautata ranch in Colombia.
Lot of jungle along the way, I think I remember 350 km Chepo to Sautata on Rio Atrata.

Flew out to Beluga Lake and explored more of the srips in the area and made one of my own.

I noticed a lot of the vegitation in the area is flattened and just assumed it was because of the prevailing winds... Maybe not! There is a reason that floodplain is so big! The glacier has surged forward and blocked the outflow of this lake. I wouldn't want to be on the Beluga strip when this lets go!

Lots of ice. These glaciers are monsters.

The patterns in the ice are unique and variable.

Almost expect to see Leprachuns!


Over the ridge to a bigger glacier still...

This one comes straight off the slopes of Mt Spur.

Found the coolest little cirque valley with no evidence anyone had landed there before. It has a giant rock wall of glacial moraine on one side and mountains composed completely of gravel on the other...


Some of the rocks in theis moraine are nearly as big as my house!

Customs time in Canada w/ CanPass means a call to Customs and writing the entry number in my logbook. I cannot remember the last time I actually saw a Canadian customs agent.

Ah, but how about the return trip? Where do you cross and how treated.

I had canpass but my buddy/copilot did not. We got delayed and we went to Boundary Bay because Abbotsford had an airshow, August 9th. For us, it too was a call to customs, and we quickly received a entry number.

On the way back, we entered the US at Bellingham on August 15th: yellow customs box underneath the control tower with lots of big jets next to us.

My original guess had been 4:30 pm. I called that morning to find they were open until 10 and gave them a new guess of 6:30. At Williams Lake, our tailwheel bolts again came loose (twice this trip) and I called to say, hopefully 8:45.

We arrived at 8 pm and were received by a very pleasant man and woman who happily and quickly processed us (passport, PPL, med certificate, registration, airworthiness for me and passport for my buddy/copilot). They thought our trip to Tuktoyaktuk was neat and congratulated us on making it happen.

On the whole it is MUCH more a pain in the rear to get back to my home country than Canada. While KBLI is OK, if the agent is having a cranky day, it can be a bit tedious.

To this day I have no idea why customs needs to see your medical and airworthiness certificate. Neither of these have one bloody thing to do with border security.

I have cleared at Kenmore docks when coming back and got a couple of real jerks from CBPS. One had a real chip on her shoulder I think because we interrupted her magazine reading.

Lock washers, loctite, loose bolts.

So, something is wrong here.
If they are the correct bolts, the wheel threads are not crossed or damaged, the wheel halves are seated, gasket in place, tyre pressure 45-55 psi, bearing preload set correctly, then only magic can loosen them.
First suspect would be the female aluminium threads.
