In addition to missing out on the bugs, we also get to let the place off gas for a month during Breakup. :)

Smoke Em If You've Got Em

The weather has held, and it looks like it might even get a little warmer. We should get another week or two out of straight skis at Merrill. The sun stays above the horizon for sixteen hours or so this time of year, so spring skiing after work is an option. Every once in a while I develop a problem with my vision, "Eye can't see staying at work all day."

Right now spring is all about the quality of the light, and the potential of the season about to unfold. I will be glad to get a few more ski flights in before we start looking for gravel bars and fish. Who is in for tomorrow --Punch Bowl, Eagle Glacier, maybe Lake George Glacier.

You think you want to cry...
I am in Texas... It was 85 degrees yesterday..
Those photos of Alaska are killing me.
The only time I have been to Alaska was about 5 years ago.
Spent a week riding a motorcycle from Achorage to Prudhoe Bay.
It was in July... so we saw no snow. Rained and Rained for days so we did not even get to see Denali.
Love the photos... Keep them coming.

Hopefully the rain kept the dust to a minimum on the Dalton Hwy! Some of our summers are like that. Come back and see us on a sunny day. You will not regret it! Heck, one of us can drop you off in the back country for a week or so!

Yesterday I took my friend Katie to Joseph, Oregon for lunch and a walk along the lake. Wup and Bill of AK Bushwheels were so kind as to allow us to use their vehicle. Thanks again!

Katie by the lake. The camera does justice to neither her or the lake. Both are beautiful.

These are actually from a week ago. Playing around with new way to take and post photos. It was a nice day, so we flew from Boulder, Colorado across the divide to Granby for lunch. It's only a 20 minute flight, but has some great scenery. Conditions were smooth, thus conducive to playing around the peaks and canyons a bit.

Love Boulder. You are lucky or planned well to live and fly there! When I moved to Alaska, my two choices were the Boulder area and here. What tipped the balance was a trip into the Arapaho Wilderness. I was three days in and still seeing people (does that make me antisocial?). Alaska it is! I do miss the Flatirons and climbing in Boulder Canyon and the park and the 4x4ing opportunities there and the...

Yesterday I shoveled snow. Lots and lots of snow. Wet, water saturated snow. So wet it clogged up the snow blower! What a joy!

Today it's in the 50s, tomorrow 70, Tuesday snowing, perhaps. Life on the Front Range, as you know. Not a lot of shoveling here; let the solar snow removal go to work ;)

I work in Alaska during the summer, so best of both worlds, perhaps.

Come on over, and I'll take you flying. I've been well-hosted in both Oz and N.Z., and would happily pass on the good energy to another.

By the way, you know those temps quoted are not Celsius, right? ;)
