Flew to Block Island a week ago. It is a small island off the north end of Long Island, NY. For people who live in the north east it is a must. Taxi's run to the airport every few minutes and take you into town. The thing that really amazed me was no landing fee. When we parked on the ramp we pushed back right next to a M7 on floats. I bet it was a long time before two Maules parked next to each other on that ramp.

McKinzie Bridge, Oregon 00S
A small group of us met at 00S McKinzie Bridge Oregon. Just a great time. Weather and fellow BCP were great.
We shot clay birds with the 12 ga. Killed some cans with the 22mag, 9mm, 357 mag. Right next to our planes.

Got out fairly early with the wife. This was the second choice of a flight. Some of us were going to try the beach but it wasn't meant to be, fog.
Good restaurant at Salem McNary field. Sat on the deck and enjoyed the picture perfect weather.
This was ok 3 grass strips, 3 paved. Morning flying the best, so smooth.
Later we drove the 32 down to the local watering hole for some water
Cheers...Rob

North Dakota
We don't have mountains, and the winter is way to long in North Dakota. But we do have some of the most beautiful summers. Spent the weekend with my brother's family in SW nd branding and carrying on!

Cascade Locks. Left Troutdale at 7:45 AM. 21 miles up the Columbia River from Troutdale, Oregon. 30x1875 paved or 50x1875 grass. I like the grass. Did 6 stop and goes and went into town for coffee. I love flying in the morning. So smooth and the temp is just right.
We flew from Troutdale, OR to Cedar Grove, WA to meet Highroad who was in the area from Gold Beach, OR. With him in tow, we headed to The Dalles via Cascade Locks for a few photo-session touch and goes. After breakfast at The Dalles (not bad, very reasonably priced) we puts some tracks in the grass at Hood River, and returned to southwest Washington for a T&G at Goheen, and finally a play session at Daybreak. I like to refer to this kind of flying as "sidecountry" because the grass strips are rural, but not really out there. And grass...grass is so good.

Here are some fun photos from today... video of a TO and LDNG competition between RobBurson and Highroad is forthcoming.
Upriver in the Columbia Gorge
Cascade Locks, short final, Highroad in his Pacer.
Cacade Locks, in the grass.
The Gorge has such fascinating topography
Burson just helped Highroad push his plane to the tiedown and he feels young and alive.
Highroad, in the Gorge near Beacon Rock.
More interesting yet unlandable terrain...
The 300mm lens is great for air-to-air shooting
Cap'n Burson
Daybreak was a good place to stop and hang out, and I wanted to shoot some video from the ground, so the guys decided to stage an informal takeoff and landing competition. Highroad, in a moment of clarity, offered to use cargo from his plane for reference points to be placed along the runway edge. This included a sleeping bag, some waders, and a Thermarest. There's a little but of exciting footage from that, maybe I will post it later.
At Daybreak, still friends before the TO/LDNG comp.
RB's flying machine.
I build a panorama of Daybreak, because the place is so cool. Click for full-size.
Overall, a very fun day with some cool guys.
