A shelter especially for housing or repairing aircraft.

a large building at an airport where aircraft can be stored and maintained.
n.
A large garage-like structure where aircraft are kept.
HANGER:

One who hangs something.
n.
A contrivance to which something hangs or by which something is hung, as.

I'm sorry; but seeing people in the aviation industry not knowing the difference....it's one of my pet peeves.

I have the same reaction to those who say "nucular" instead of "nuclear".

Re: Hangar, not Hanger
I'm guilty.
But "comprised of" is an idiom meaning the same as "comprises". I guess I grew up in an area where "comprised of" was part of the local dialect. Unlike "there vs their" and "hanger vs hangar", at least 'comprised of' means that same as 'comprises' and is accepted as correct in some areas of the country.
It is irratating that our language gets misused until the misused term is eventually accepted... but I guess it is normal for languages to morph over time.

Y'all's as tuff a grammatical ,spelling and english composition group as some of those RV guys over on VAF. Couple of those fellows get all bent out of shape over conditional inspection vs.condition inspection
Note: this is coming from a guy who thinks it's perfectly acceptable to be creative in your interpretations of how some words aughts to be spelt.

Well, here in Scotland we’re sometimes obliged to cut a bit of slack to folks who struggle a bit with our perfect English:
