Hello all

I can't find a nominal oil level for my M7 180, all I can find is minimum levels. What do you guys keep your engine oil levels at?

Thanks
Adam

My O-360 seems to like to be around 5-6 quarts so I usually add a quart when it gets down around the 4.5-5 quart mark.

Same as what Tim said . Any more than 6 Qt and it’s just gonna blow it out and make a mess on the belly

Theres alot to say about it. Engine age, oil type, ambient temp conditions, extended operation above 75%. All of these can/will vary the oil consumption. Best to follow Lycoming recommendations. I fly my airplane regularly and pre-heat the oil below ambient temp of about 5C in winter. No matter where i fill it (always 8qts on oil change) it goes right down to 6.25 and stays there. Generally need to add up oil once in 25 hrs. I change at 40-50hrs. If yours sits alot it should be changed every 4 mo. I use w100 and add a pint of camguard on 50hr OC.

My MX-7-180 with the O-360-C1F stabilizes around 6.25 qts. I put a quart in when it gets down to 6 qts. In warm or hot weather I use AeroShell W100 Plus. When the temperature drops down below 50 I add AeroShell W80 Plus each time I add a quart.

M5 180-C. Same as others have said I keep it at 6 qt. Ad 1/2 when it gets to 5.5 When filled to 6 it just pushes it out.
