M7 on wipair amphibs 235 or 260

Post by FJLG »

Hi I’m looking at buying a M7 260 on amphibs and was looking for some answers. The useful load on this plane is not very good which I sorta understand with amphibs. Was wondering if anyone has one and what there thoughts were. I’m sure it might accidentally be overloaded on take off so would be interested in your thoughts. More Power is never a bad thing. What kind of speeds and fuel burn can I expect. Read a bunch of the threads but would like to talk with someone who has the same configuration.

This fellow here fly's and is rumored to instruct in an M7 amphib, I've crossed path's with him once or twice but I don't know him personally. He is the NJ field director for the seaplane pilots association and his info is public, he might be worth a call.

The plane for sale is it on wheels or amphibs. And yes I might give him a call. Must be more of you out there with that set up, 260 and floats. I’m looking at one with spring gear, is that good or bad, if and when on 31 wheels.

It's on amphibs. Most all the newer ones will be spring gear - people like both but I prefer the oleo gear.

Hey Floyd,

I know this post is a little late......

I recently picked up an MX7-235 on EDO-2500's. I have not put a lot of time on it yet, but it seems to like to fly around 104 to 108KTS (zero flaps) at 23 squared and I keep it at about 14GPH and temps seem to be happy. Gas is cheaper than cylinders.......
