Nice looking M-4. I had an M-4-220C and loved it. I also palm the throttle and prefer the vernier to a friction lock. there's no right or wrong, just personal preference. Agree with the patroller door mod. Added it to my 1970 M-4 and loved the increase in visibility.

Thanks Mike. I'm still enjoying all the upgrades that you did to your old bird. :D

Ray, you put it on skis in the winter?

Nope. For the first several years I kept it at KWVL for the winter. Now I stay at Bowman (B10) year round. Runway is rolled regularly, and is great for skis, but quite difficult getting the plane in, and out of my hangar. Also if you don't get turned around at the end of Rny 20 you spend a lot of time shoveling. I've done this; not fun!

Congrats !
Think about putting HD extended gear on that...I did that to my M4-210 and it made a huge improvement to takeoff and landing attitude !! (It’s easy to spend other people’s $$ 😁)

Ok, I’ve flown the plane some now, and absolutely love it! Learning to like the vernier throttle, but wishing I had vernier mixture still. Also would like an engine monitor as I’m finding it pretty hard to lean precisely. Super fun machine though!

An engine analyzer is a good investment. I added a JPI EDM 800 with all the sensors in 2002. Leaning is much easier and the fuel flow is an absolute necessity. Having individual CHT and EGT sensors on each cylinder is a great way to identify if one cylinder is having problems. Mine is connected to my GTN 650 so it knows how long it is until the next waypoint and the exact fuel burn to get there.

Awesome pic next to the four fans of freedom! Flew the C130 for 5 years and loved it. Fueled my love for dirt.

That is a great looking M4. Have a year in my M7 and one of the first things I did was add an engine monitor. Love the peace of mind that it affords with a single-engine. Mine is an CGR-30 and love it. It was the right choice for me but these days there are a lot of great choices.

Welcome to the family. You are gonna love Maule people!

Happy Flying!
