Opinions on MGWTO mod for Maules built before 1981. Has anyone done this mod? Is it worth the money? What kind of labor is involved with the STC? I understand purchasing the kit is $780 but what kind of sheet metal work is required? Thank in advance.

The quoted hours are approx 30 if one knows the airplane. There is a little riveting to do and some drilling of the spars. Wing removal and refitting of course. If struts are not changed, rigging should work out the same.
Gross weight increase kit takes the M5 from max 2300 lb to 2500 lb and from 2530 lb on floats to 2750 lbs provided the airplane has the floatplane reinforcement fitted.

Thinking about doing the same and wanted to bring this back into discussion- did you end up doing the increase?
