I picked up a m4 with M5 wings as a project. One m5 wing has a tweaked front spar from a tree impact and the other wing looks repairable. M5 wings have the tip tanks and droop tips.
I'm looking at picking up another m4 for parts to use the wings off of as I cant find many M5 around for parts. My question is, since I would have extra wing parts, Can a guy take a set of M4 wings and install the tip tanks and splice the spars to add a few feet of wing? Is there even an STC for a spar splice on a Maule? What would you do?

Just realized that the m4 wing im looking at is a late model 30'10'' which is same length as the M5 wing, which as he said above the only difference is the extra flap length on the M5 which I doubt would be worth all that extra work to convert? Sounds like tip tanks is best way to go and call it good?

Take a look at N6272m it's a 1978 m6 235. Your chart says m6 earliest was 1981. Heading to pick it up, I assume I'm buying a 120" flap model? I'm upgrading from the m5maules.com wrote:Wings 101
