I just acquired an M6-235, N5645D. I'm excited! It hasn't flown in a long while. I think the engine will be OK, pulled a couple cylinders and as far as I can see the cam and lifters look OK. Recovering the horizontal and elevator with Stits. I think a thorough annual and some flight time will go a long way in bringing her back.

I had previously been a partner in an M4-180V some years ago, but am new to this website... Which has been a great source of information both before and after purchase. Thanks to everyone who makes it available!

Welcome!

If you are on Facebook, there are a few good Maule groups that are also a great source of help and inspiration.

From another M6-er in South Africa!!

Welcome to the Maule Forum. It's a great place to share Maule information and advice. I'm not a Facebook fan - too many ads and privacy issues. This site doesn't have either of those problems.

Thanks! I’ll poke around Facebook one rainy day, too.

welcome!

whilst your tailfeathers are off, it's a very good time to comply with Maule service letter no. 59. it has you inspect the tail struts and especially the lower attach stubs of the fuselage. Alaskan airplanes tend to be used hard and put away wet, so this area can start to show corrosion of the lower tubes.

UP M5 thanks for the good tip, I’ll do it.

Getting close! Last big item is the tail feathers, I started recovering them recently. Off to a very slow start but will get faster as my technique improves I think.

Donnie at Anchorage Custom Powder Coating did a great job powder coating the horizontals and elevators, and the price was very fair I thought.

Engine inspection nearly done. Airframe essentially just needs ELT and tail feathers.
