Another New Maule Pilot
Just bought my first plane. An Mx7-180A. Flew it back to the east coast from Boise ID with help from member StuporRocket (Scott Oglesby). Stopped in Oshkosh for a few days. Great, fun trip!! Back in the saddle after 10 years!

Thanks for warm welcome.
I drove to last year's Maule fly-in and met Bob and others. I have a trip planned to the Smokey Mnts Sept. 20th-27th. I found out the Fly-in dates after planning the trip so am now trying to extend the vacation to detour south for the fly-in. Girlfriend needs to get back to work, so may buy her a commercial ticket home. I haven't told her that part yet

Well used or Well preserved?
Been looking for a M7-235. Been eyeballing two listed in Trade-A-Plane. Unfortunately both are being offered by Texas Maule but what ever. The question is this: One is a 1985 with 630 TT airframe and engine. Had a prop strike at 500hrs. Based in Yuma AZ. The second is a 1989 with 2750TT and 1197 SFRM. Supposedly rebuilt by Maule in 1998. Based in FL.
Avionics are a wash as neither is ADS-B equipped.
So, Well used in a humid salt water environment or essentially brand new rarely flown in a desert environment.
Let me know what y’all think.
Cheers
Tim

I flew down to look at the M7 in Homestead Fl & met a mechanic that performed an abbreviated pre-buy. I thought getting a new fuselage in 1998 would be like getting a newer aircraft. From what I could find out by talking with the owner & looking at the logs it went back on floats after the re-build. Found rust on vertical frame tubing just above rear inspection panel that may have pitted. The owner later sent a photo of the rust spot sanded down to show it did not have pin holes. I walked away because of what I was afraid was there that was not visible. Despite what others have said about Charlie at M.A.T., I found him easy to deal with.
