Call Stephanie Dennis - Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance 877/913-6247
In 2015, when I first got my ‘98 Maule MX7-180C IFR, constant speed prop -
the insurance was $2,800!!!
Stephanie was mentioned in one of these threads and in ‘16 I called her and now my insurance premium is $1,495!! Cut in half!!
U.S. Specialty - they’re better with Maules
I’m 300 hour pilot, 154 in the Maule, 170 tailwheel.
Insurance is $75,000 hull
$250 deductible no motion
$2,500 deduct in motion
Bodily injury $1,000,000 each occurrence, $100,000 each passenger
Chris in Milwaukee originally posted her name on a thread and that’s where I got it. I’ve since turned my hangar neighbor on to her - saved him $$ and his son in Denver also saved nearly $3,000 on his plane - can’t remember what he has but she usually always saves people $$ that I’ve told to call her .

I also used CS&A to get quotes for possible purchases. One other agent got nothing but rejections.
1700hrs total, 8hrs TW, zero Maule. Commercial ME with Instrument rating.
$80k Hull, $1mil ea. occurrence, $100k ea. PX. Medical $20k/$5k. No off airport exclusion.
Avemco was well over $4k (stopped listening when I heard "four"). Up several hundred dollars from 8 months ago. 20 hrs dual req.
STARR - $3067 (up approx $150 from 8 mos ago) 10 hrs dual & 5 solo req.
XL - $1786 (Never heard of XL) 25 hrs dual req.
XL - $2049 with $1 mil combined ea. occurrence (smooth)
Anyone have experience with XL insurance?
Steve

Mine is only insured to $30k (older M4 with O-300) but I pay a fraction of these quotes. I got my rate with 0 Maule time and limited Tailwheel time (maybe 60hrs or so). It was so low that the agent warned me it might not be the same next year, but having just renewed it, it's still the same. $878. I was quoted anything up $4,000 and many refused outright. ridiculous rates.
I won't even tell anyone who my insurer is, in case they get a rash of claims and jack up everyone's rates. Not very helpful, I know. Point is : shop around a LOT.

Insurance Renewal on a 1999 M7-260
I just renewed my insurance with AVEMCO on my 1999 M7-260 for $3702 with 1 million liability and a Hull Value of $170,000. Zero deductibles on Hull and Liability. Global quoted $3211 until I added a named pilot with 2654 hours in Maules but no Instrument rating. Global then went to $3,812. I was informed that age 69 is a changeover point where about half of the available insurers won't even quote me even with an ATP, 23,000 plus hours and 55 hours in Make and Model. This is really making me feel old. AVEMCO is great to work with and said I was in their lowest risk category. One great thing is that AVEMCO will let you drop the in-motion for 30 days at a time with a quick phone call. You can do this with other insurance companies, but it is much more involved. This will save me a lot when we take trips in our RV. One other interesting thing that the AVEMCO broker told me was that Maule Aircraft are actually appreciating in value unlike most aircraft.

2006 MT-7-235 bought new. 1 million liability and a Hull Value of $180,000. Zero deductibles on Hull and Liability. No landing restrictions. Pilot: 1000+ hrs in Maules. USAIG rate is $1600. I have found any rate at or below 1.5% of hull value is acceptable. Varies with pilot time in type of course.
