My comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek and you are right. Though I am no huge fan of the short-wing Pipers, there is a guy in Newnan, GA who is building up some stretched Pacers and equipping them for STOL work. I need to check in on them.

Beyond that, We moved from a PA-12-150 to an M-7-235. Though she is a hungry wench, she makes a great traveling plane for the places we like to go, and we can take everything we need. In fact, I'm making a Bahamas run on Wednesday. Far better than making that rip in the Cub.

I hear ya there, Scott. I used to have a highly-modified PA-12-150. Great Alaska backcountry machine, but sloooow...

My M-6-235 is much better for almost everything.

Best recent performance upgrade to the 5 was buying a PA-12. Man is the Maule a fast mover now after a a hundred'ish hours in that -12!

My old PA-11-90 was even slower than my old droop tipped J5/PA-12. hybrid

The 12 would get up to 85 mph with a flat prop. The 11 was a 75 mph bird.

My darn C-172 on floats only cruises at 85 knots max. Usually 75-80 if I have a normal engine rpm.

My -12 moved right out at about 105-110mph with stock wings, and still climbs well. Don't remember how it is propped. Still nice to be at 140 in the Maule with 3 more people & gear, though.

Yes please don't lump us all together, I often refer people to Jeremy as he is by far the most knowledgeable Maule guru I know of. so If I can't help you we know who can. Im sorry about not being around much on the forum but life happens ya know!
