Vancouver, BC highway route

Post by MikeW »

Has anyone flown the highway route out of Vancouver along the Fraser river. There are a lot of cable crossings shown on the chart between Hope and Ashcroft. Is this a viable route or are the cables a real hazard up there. Thanks

That is the primary route and the cables are not a hazard unless you are right in the bottom of the canyon where you have no room to turn around. 100 mile house is a good stop as it is a very short walk to the town but check ahead for fuel. Canadian flight service people are extremely helpful, I think they would rather tell you all the wx and info up front rather than a wasted search later. You must fly with a flight plan, or a flight note which allows a looser schedule.
Have a good trip.
