How many veterans?
Gene Dotson: So you were a bomber mechanic trainee at Amarillo in 1960? This is amazing. I was a young admin trainee there in 1962, and all any of the PCS personnel at Amarillo could talk about was how sharp the "bombers" (B-47 mechanics trainees) were prior to our arrival there in August '62. All we ever heard was, the bombers this and the bombers that, until we had it coming out of our ears! They must have really put you guys through the wringer! I was in from 2/62 thru 2/66, 3-1/2 years at Evreux-Fauville air base in Normandy, France. Loved it!

Service Background
New guy here who has been lurking here the last few months. In the hunt for an aircraft while also cruising the Carib and along the East Coast.
USAF/ANG guy from 1969-2004. First life enlisted loadmaster on C-130 A,B,E at VNY. Navigator on C-130E-H, HC, LC, MC, EC Hercs. Nine years CSAR at Moffett (CC) and then SOF EC-130E&J in PA (CC). Even got to fly a desk in the 5 sided puzzle palace in the 80s. Been to most everywhere.
Next stop will be Sun and Fun enroute back to boat. Significant other suggests one toy at a time. 🤔. Enjoy the forum.

Delta Romeo. 5 sided Puzzle Palace. Washington DC center of gravity for Defense. AKA the Pentagon. My career broadening assignment away from jet engines and aircraft. Fascinating five years but was happy to see Washington in my rear view window and rtn to the real world of military aviation.

Great Thread - Thanks to all who shared
23+ years USAF. Just under 2000 A-10 hours, just over 500 HC-130 hours, and about 520 MC-12W hours (a King Air 350 with a bunch of recon equipment). Saudi Arabia/Southern Watch (Iraq) x 2, Kuwait/Southern Watch (Iraq) x1, Afghanistan x2, Korea, and NEVER D.C. my entire career. Loved every minute of it!
After all the jet/turboprop time the Maule has been interesting/humbling and just plain FUN...though still not quite as fun as shooting the A-10's 30MM.
Thanks to all who served and all the family members who sacrificed so others could serve.

Old Chopper Pilot
Went in 1959 at Camp Wolters as a 2nd Lt. Flew H-13,H-23, H-34. Loved flying the H-34. Three years in and out to grad school but did 3 years in Md National Guard to keep in the fun of flying. Love my M-5 since it climbs and descends like a helicopter.
