Well, not only are there a number of vets here there are more than a few of us chopper pilots too. There is something about landing fast that bothers us, I guess. Now all I have to do is not be afraid to plant the tail rot*** wheel!
I thaught Rotary Wing Qualification at Fort Rucker in the early 1970s and the worse airplane pilots to teach where those tail dragger pilots that flew Birddogs, Beavers and Otters in Vietnam. Now my problem is the exact opposite!

Current Active Duty Air Force
2001 Graduate from the Air Force Academy and current F-16 pilot at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, AK! I bought a Maule M-5-210C about a month ago and brought it up here to AK from NC. I have about 1400 hours in the F-15E and just transitioned to the F-16 and fly the Maule on the weekends and love it!

Current USAR Hooker
Now THIS is a late post!
USCGR for almost 5 years, then various roles (trainee, mechanic, crew chief, flight engineer, T.I., flight engineer instructor) on CH-47A/C/D Chinooks on and off for more than 30 years.
Memorable outings: Dominican Republic / Puerto Rico 1984, Honduras a couple of times, Korea 1989-90, Peru 2008, Iraq 2009-10.
Maybe I'll keep going until the USAR gets their CH-47Fs...

Chief Warrant Officer 5, 1986 to present, Currently fulltime active guard for Wisconsin. Army helicopter UH-1 Huey, OH-58 Scout, AH-1 Cobra, UH-60 Blackhawk, and C-26 fixed wing (metroliner). Currently just got to Afghanistan for my second tour as a fixed wing detachment commander. I have a M4-220C with patroller doors which makes me feel like I'm flying scouts again. I love to take it to the backcountry to camp and fish. This country would be an absolute playground for a STOL aircraft if they would just stop shooting at us.

18 years in the Air Force if being a brat counts! Born at Dyess, AFB in Abilene, Tx. 6mo old when we move to Eillson, AFB in Fairbanks, Ak. Blame my dad for acclimating me young. Hate the heat! We were also at March, AFB, back to Dyess, Offutt, AFB and then Bergstorm, AFB. My sisters went to Nouasseur in Morocco and Loring in Maine among other places. Dad spent 4yrs in the Army in WWII, went in to the Air Force and spent 20yrs, retired and then went into Civil Service doing the same job for another 10 years.
Thanks to all who have served!

You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!
