Yeah, I guess you're right Jim!
I'm not so sure. The MX-7-235 was only ever made without a suffix after the engine size, 30'10'' wing and oleo undercarriage. Whereas Eduardo's M-8 has wide gear and 32'11'' wing. Jeremy's Chronology page (http://www.maules.com/chronology.html) refers.
I agree with you David, it is a different and unique airplane. Jeremy's chronology proves that.

Yes, Chris, I have flown her maybe 4 or 5 times. It was owned by two very good friends consecutively (only 2 owners since new), so I had chance to fly her.many years ago, I flew my first Maule, but I don't remember the model. It must have been 1987-8.

I don't remember the first flight enough to compare with the M8. And, once I start flying her! I'll post my opinion. I'm sure I'll love it, though.

Maule sn#s are up to 54 prefix. Approximately 54 major changes in the Maule design of some sort.

The M8 was #15
#54 was the M4-100 (sport pilot category) Project abandoned.

The MX7-235 from 1985 has the 4 seat fuselage same as M6.
MX7-235 has the square tip 30'10" wing.
M8-235 has 4 seat MX7 M6 fuselage but with wide aluminium gear and the universal 32'11" wing. That early gear could take a 'set' and not fully return to normal, sometimes only on one side.
It is important to make sure the wide gear early U channel attachment straps and bolts have been changed to the later square section straps.

What a beautiful airplane, MM. Is that yours? Can we see pix of the inside?

Jeremy, my plane has the new gear. It had a gear collapse a bunch of years ago, and was replaced with the new gear. That's another thing I like about this M8.

If I recall, all the "usuable/interchangeable" parts are gone....so to speak.

That's a shame! Was it in bad shape? It looks good from the outside, at least.

Too bad it disappeared, MM! It should be in a museum or flying. I had noticed in the picture that the cowling looked quite different. Thanks for showing us a pie of history!
