I own four airplanes. I don't count on the Maule to do what it cannot. You fly what you want to and I will too.
BTW... I'm done with this thread now.

Could you tell us how you really feel? Do not hold back. JUst kidding.
Your message was refreshing. I think most of us love our planes no matter what they are. I think all planes are great. Some are better suited for certain missions. I love my Lyc 180HP but then we do not weigh that much.

I love my 71 M4-220 Stata Rocket. I will not make the fly in cuz I am not done putting on extended tanks and the motor back in... It flew 1600 hrs before and now will be fresh again. I have only 300 in it. Smooth motor just no parts out there. I have flown at altitued with oxigen and with the short wings was not climbing like a turbo but ok. The looks of the tail etc. is the best. My other plane is a Columbia 400 and I love it too. Climbs better at alltitude! Wont give up my maul ever.
It will have a rebuilt prop. G430. Raised flap stick. VGs. Flap seals. 26 inch wheels. Hope to get it flying soon...

I have a M4 220C located at Kremmlings 20V. Where do you fly out of? Don't quite understand why your Franklin isn't performing at higher altitudes. Warm days at 20V the DA can be 10K or more. I cross Corona (cross at 13,500) Pass direct from 20V direct, with no turns for altitude. Same for Milner (I usually go across at 12,500) to the north. Usually cool at that altitude but at times close to gross wt.

Wow am I glad I didn't read this post before I flew here:
Coyote Flats 10,400 foot elevation. DA that day pushing 12k.
I fly back and forth over the Sierra's and operate at 10 - 14k all the time for mtn. wave, safety and comfort reasons. It does better than my 182 did,,, I know that much.
Might want to check those manifold gaskets as described in another post.
