Hey MauleMechanic.....lets fabricate a mount for a Jacobs or Pratt and hang one on the Maule!!
Know a good contact in Atlanta? :D
Oh nevermind, the cowling would cost as much as the engine.

I think that is a brilliant idea.
Now we won't just have the coolest planes in the world, we will have the coolest engines as well.
MM I think you start working on the design lol

Just thinking. (That in itself is a dangerous pass time)
Why stop with the radial engine, lengthen the fuselage for an additional 2 seats plus baggage, widen for more comfort, add more wing, THEN stick that 400 hp radial up front, and we have the ultimate Maule bush plane.
I will be a buyer and I suspect a lot of AK and Canadian operators will as well

Nothing wrong with dreaming :D

For those who really want a DH-2 Beaver and have Dollars, Pounds, or Krugerrands, burning holes in your pockets, this may be the site for you:

I saw no price tag, but I'm guessing well North of the $400k mark discussed yesterday for used examples.

I am persuaded that there is just no substitute for a Beaver, but the cost of acquisition and maintenance can really put a damper on a fellow's enthusiasm.

I think this is why my son has given up dating for the time being to just focus on his studies.

I am guessing the new turbo Beaver on amphibs is going to be closer to $1M than it is to $400k

$400k gets you a ~14,000 hr air frame and radial engine with at least 1/4 of the TBO time gone.

Just a dream.

One does not always need horsepower....radial engines produce more torque than flat engines and can swing "bigger" props!
